A portable house: Live like a nomad of our time

Vorige maand ontmoete ik in het geweldige B&B myhomeinlisbon architect Carlos Alonzo van Ábaton Arquitectura.

Tijdens een etentje in het pop-up restaurant van het B&B vertelde hij over een van zijn meest recente projecten.  Een compact huis van 27m2, prefab, waarvan de meeste materialen gerecycled kunnen worden. Door de grote raampartijen ontstaat een vervaging van de grens tussen binnen en buiten.

Meestal zijn dit soort huizen afzichtelijk, maar dit klein maar fijne huis vind ik prachtig.
Een huis dat je als het ware ergens kan planten en vervolgens ook eenvoudig kunt verplaatsen naar een nieuwe bestemming. Zo kun je gaan leven als een nomade van deze tijd.

Last month I met Architect Calos Alonzo of Ábaton Arquitectura in the great B&B myhomeinlisbon.

During a diner in the pop-up restaurant in the B&B he told us about one of his most recent projects. 

A compact house of 27 sq mt, prefab, with materials that are mostly recyclable. 

Because of the big windows the boundary between the inside and outside disappears. Most of the time these type of houses are hideous in my opinion, but I think this little house is beautiful. A house that you can plant somewhere and which you can move easily to a new destination. You can start living like a nomad of our time.

Tommy Hilfiger ‘Peoples Place’

You can't find a logo in this restaurant where the people of Tommy Hilfiger have lunch.
I think it is special that a brand doesn't express who they are with a logo but with feeling and atmosphere. Nice place to have lunch if you work for Tommy Hilfiger in Amsterdam.

Colour hunting

I was immediately fascinated by the subtitle of the book "How colour influences what we buy, make and feel" and this sentece of the advertisment at framemag.com "This book takes us on a colourful journey, hunting out and broadening our horizons into the immense potential of colour. With an appreciation of every nuance, tone, tint and shade, the possibilities are truly infinite." 
I can really recommend this book, it's true inspiration! The book contains beautiful quotes from great artists, a lot of beautiful pictures and interviews with well known professionals like Claudy Jongstra, Piet Oudolf and Scholten & Baijings. Fore more info check this link

Today I ♥ a holiday home in the UK

This renovated barn was on the cover of Elle deco Italy last month and the white painted brick walls attracted my attention. It's great inspiration for a project were I'm working on right now.
When you take a closer look you see one wall is covered with white wash wood what adds warmth to do hard materials of the base. The combination of the clean and light base work well with the scandinavian furniture. I love the black large steel window frames, that's one my wishlist for me dreamhouse....

Today I ♥ Hotel Forsthaus

The thing what I liked immediately about this design of hotel Forsthaus is the use of trees inside, what I did myself recently in an meeting room. The brief for this hotel called "for a fixed, quit low, budget and the most interesting design possible without being stylish" tells architect Martin Naumann in FRAME magazine. It looks quit simple but the details make it special and funny to me. For example the ton sur ton dears on the walls, the recess in the ceiling for build in lightning and were a sleigh is coming out or the vertical part of the lowered ceiling that is painted grey what gives the pace more depth.
