The sea inside

Love the effect of a large image of the sea in an interior, it gives such a calming effect don't you think?

Wasteland: an inspiring documentary

A friend recommended to see this documentary and I'm glad we did. I watched it a few weeks ago and I still think of it often. It's so beautiful to see how art can change peoples life, and in this movie literally. It's a very moving documentary about the people who work in the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Together with artist Vic Muniz they recreate photographic images of themselves out of garbage (around 50m2 on the floor), that reveals both the dignity and despair of the catadores as they begin to re-imagine their lives.

View down onto Irma’s portrait on the floor, here you can see the scale very well.

Inwards and Onwards

Last friday I went to the exhibition of Anton Corbijn in FOAM in Amsterdam. The work that is shown are pictures Corbijn made of artists he admires.
I met him once in the interior shop I was working and told him I liked the picture he made of our queen because of the composition and color, so he thanked me. That was such a big thing for me at that time that I had the guts to compliment him and it felt so good!

Here are a few of the pieces that are shown at FOAM

Inspirational craft by Claudy Jongstra

Busy times lately, that's why I have been I bit silent....  I also went to London with my colleagues to visit inspirational food concepts, I will post about this trip later.
I wanted to post somthing about Claudy Jongstra for a long time because I love her felt work for years. Last year I went to a lecture where she told about how they work at the studio. It was really inspiring what she told about the dyeing process with the natural pigments that she grows mostly on her own farm.
The blue work is for the exhibition at the United Nations in New York that was held in february.

Danish home of art lovers

I think these home owners have an excellent taste of art! Love the painting above the sofa, it is a piece made by Anne Tholstrup. It's really worth it to see more of her work.

Paintings by Koen Vermeule

A few years ago I saw one of Koen Vermeule painting in Kunsthal Rotterdam for the first time and did not like that one so much, but later I saw his landscapes and persons,  that I liked very very much. I think his paintings have lot of atmosphere in it, it 's a framed moment. The black layers give it a lot of depth. Check his website for more... http://www.koenvermeule.nl/
