Concrete must have
Today I've seen this beautiful desk accessories made of concrete at Dezeen.com designed by Magnus Pettersen. They would come out perfectly on my new desk an will match very well with my new imac I'm planning to buy.

Inwards and Onwards
Last friday I went to the exhibition of Anton Corbijn in FOAM in Amsterdam. The work that is shown are pictures Corbijn made of artists he admires.
I met him once in the interior shop I was working and told him I liked the picture he made of our queen because of the composition and color, so he thanked me. That was such a big thing for me at that time that I had the guts to compliment him and it felt so good!
Here are a few of the pieces that are shown at FOAM

Capital Kitchen Melbourne
Capital Kitchen is a combination of a café, bar and food-based home ware store in Melbourne. I think the corporate identity design and the interior design form a perfect combination. Love the marble Carrara bar, in this setting it is very modern in stead of classic.

Get inspired
This is definitely the most colorful room I ever designed. During a meeting you can write your great ideas on the pink walls or hang your paper sheets, so you don't need ugly whiteboards... I used vintage chairs from project 99

Being Alice in wonderland
This interior is like being Alice in wonderland or like stepping into a cloud! Very special.
I like the soft mint color with the copper lampshades! This interior of the information centre of the Groninger Museum was designed by Jaime Hayon.

Take away at Bakkerswinkel
The interior of the take away shop of the Bakkerswinkel in Amsterdam (Warmoestraat) is as cosy as the other shops. The counter is made of scrapwood designed by Piet Hein Eek, what I still like after all these years. I like the open raw wooden cupboards they painted i a high gloss grey hue, great (last picture)! Love their pies a lot, especially the cheese cake and carrot cake mmmmmmmm.

Today I ♥
This autumn Heal's is celebrating scandinavian design. They used a lot of the lovely products of Ferm living to decorate this room. Makes me happy!

Today I
Let's make a pitstop in La Belgique
Recently I designed a shop of a petrol station, our concept was to make it a family kitchen. I will show you the drawings later. This weekend I was reorganizing a lot of magazines and articles when I found an article about this petrol station in Belgium, called Roodstop. It opened years ago and was definitely ahead of it's time. It is still very different from the average and it looks inviting to me. Of course I love the concrete flooring and industrial style. They serve Illy coffee and pepper soup, need I say more?

Southern comfort
During my search for a nice hotel in Antwerp for a weekend trip I found Hotel Julien. What a great place to stay with all these design classics in a classic environment. Love the patio with the black steel window frames like I used in my design (see my post) for our apartment in our design contest of Kavel 12 (you can still vote for us here)

Colour hunting
I was immediately fascinated by the subtitle of the book "How colour influences what we buy, make and feel" and this sentece of the advertisment at framemag.com "This book takes us on a colourful journey, hunting out and broadening our horizons into the immense potential of colour. With an appreciation of every nuance, tone, tint and shade, the possibilities are truly infinite."
I can really recommend this book, it's true inspiration! The book contains beautiful quotes from great artists, a lot of beautiful pictures and interviews with well known professionals like Claudy Jongstra, Piet Oudolf and Scholten & Baijings. Fore more info check this link

My new home office
In Septembre I will start my own freelance business in interior design and I'm very busy with my business plan and stuff like that. Very exciting! In the beginning I will work from home so I have to create a bigger space where I can work and store my stuff. I would like to create a big floating worktable, something like the picture in my mood board, but unfortunately that's not possible because of the fireplace as you can see at the picture of my home office as it is at the moment. I will solve this problem by using a drawer from IKEA at one side, that will support the table top.
