A new take on an industrial design classic

I saw this cool lamp in the dutch magazine 101 woonideeen of this month and I like it a lot.
The UNFOLD pendant lamp offers a new take on an industrial design classic. Crafted from soft but strong silicone rubber, Unfold projects a modern and warm personality. The soft material also allows the lamp to be folded into a neat package. - Just open and unfold your new lamp.

Unfold is created for Danish design brand Muuto, for whom Form Us With Love also has designed the Match tea light holders.

So smart: the Woolfiller

A smart way to create new elbow patches in a different color for example or just to repair your favourite cardigen or carpet. Very eco friendly because you don't have to buy a new one. Check out Heleen's website for a short video with what and how.
Woolfiller repairs holes and hides stains in woollen jumpers, cardigans, jackets and carpets, for example. How?
Through embracing the specific character of wool. The fibres of wool contain miniscule scales which open up when they are pricked with a felt needle. The open scales bind with each other and will not be separated. Not even in the wash. A new solution for an age old problem.

Woolfiller is the invention of Heleen Klopper, a product-designer who has been fascinated for years by wool and felt and their specific characters.
In October 2009, she won the
Doen | Material Prize for Woolfiller.

This year Woolfiller was mentioned in Time magazine as one of the best inventions of 2010.

Floating books

I still like these funny shelfs and I'm thinking of using a few in my bedroom as functional decoration.

Fresh start: a lot of white

I'm sick for day's now, that's why I didn't post anything last week, but this house cheers me up. It looks so fresh with the white and a touch of color, bit like spring, exactly what I need!

It's all in the mix: grey, white and wood

(source VT Wonen)

This the house of a former colleague of mine at Piet Boon. She used a lot of the furniture line of Piet Boon Zone,  quite logic when you work there, but still they made the interior there own and not a typical Piet Boon house. They mixed self made furniture like the wooden couch with the grey cushions and the table with Moooi, IKEA and VT Wonen. what makes it so beautiful is the built in principal, it's typical Piet Boon, but I think it smart.

DIY
To get a chic look by putting a wooden shelf in between the walls and put basins on it combine it with built in taps and a simple mirror and you have a affordable bathroom solution that gives a chic hotel look. see example above and in the kitchen as well.

Inspiring dutch home: Fresh start

What I like about this interior is that it is so light, the ceiling is high and they invited nature inside, that's why it looks so fresh and cheerful.
