Last week we threw a party and got this jug from a good friend. I love the form so much and it looks really pretty as a vase as well. It's from the table ware collection of Piet Hein Eek called DIK (what means fat in dutch) and it's made in Thailand & faitrade.

Times are changing
I've been busy with the start of my own company Studio Nest. That's why I haven't been blogging lately, but that's going to change. I will let you know when my website is finished but for now you can see what I've been doing here, on Facebook or via Twitter.

Amsterdam inspiration
Last weekend I made some pictures during a walk through Amsterdam. In the harbor area I saw this drifting wooden house, isn't it beautiful?

DIY in black
I bought this lamp on Marktplaats (dutch ebay) for €10,- and it was white, but the base was made of plastic in stead of metal and didn't look good. So my boyfriend and I spray painted it with several layers and, I'm so happy with it. My workplace is almost finished now.

Apartment with style
This apartment is my cup of tea! It's raw, graphic and elegant at the same time. Love the bedroom wall where you can write you're great ideas you get at night or a romantic poem for your love.

Wasteland: an inspiring documentary
A friend recommended to see this documentary and I'm glad we did. I watched it a few weeks ago and I still think of it often. It's so beautiful to see how art can change peoples life, and in this movie literally. It's a very moving documentary about the people who work in the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Together with artist Vic Muniz they recreate photographic images of themselves out of garbage (around 50m2 on the floor), that reveals both the dignity and despair of the catadores as they begin to re-imagine their lives.

Steel cabinets by JSPR
I'm really into steel cabinets lately. I love that you can make composition of your favorite things within a frame. This modern handmade interpretation by JSPR is just amazing! How the forms are attached to another it becomes a cabinet skyscraper…
Definitely a piece on my wish list.

Living blue
The theme of the Histor house during the Elle inside design was light, air and space. Everything was painted in different colors of blue and turquoise. I love blue a lot, in fashion as well, it so easy to combine. Blue is my black.

Raw graphic
During my search for graphic inspiration I found the work of Jesse Harris. It's a corporate identity for a fishmonger where the designer combines illustration work with his love for packaging design and innovative branding. I love the simplicity. It's very clear and with a touch of vintage because of the brown paper. Very beautiful.

Color inspiration
Autumn is almost there, the last sunny days and then all the colors will change.
I think this color pallet translates this autumn feeling perfectly, don't you think?

My recent project: A restaurant makeover
We had to create a new restaurant with a tight budget (no budget to buy new chairs), quite a challenge. The owners are very happy with the result. And the best thing is, busy times are back again and that was the goal of this new concept and big change.
The inspiration moodboard for the new mediterranean concept
The interior moodboard
The restaurant is situated in an old doctors house and the restaurant is spread over several rooms that each have there own color scheme.

In the attic the owners will create a room where people can smoke, pour their own drinks and play their favorite records. This is the inspiration moldboard.

Restaurant Diverso
This is the ocean colored room with yellow accents in the photo collages I made. This room is connected to the yellow room.
I created these collages with inspiring images that remind me of a warm south european summer. It's to create an atmosphere that's more then just good food. We printed them on large canvases
